Why The Circular Economy Is Failing And How It Can Actually Work
In today’s world of rising sustainability expectations, even small food businesses are under pressure to reduce waste. For Nivitaly Dubai, known for offering high-quality Italian food products, one growing issue was surplus stock. Every quarter, around 1 ton of food was going to waste.
This wasn’t just an environmental problem. It also meant high disposal costs, extra carbon emissions, and a lost chance to use valuable resources better.
The Solution: Circular Collaboration with The Surpluss
Nivitaly partnered with The Surpluss, a circular economy platform focused on resource exchange. Together, they found a practical and purpose-driven solution. Instead of letting food near expiry go to waste, they created a system to track and reallocate the stock within a safe usage window.
This food was then donated to a local social enterprise. The result was a dual impact. Waste was avoided, and local communities in need received quality food. The process was simple to implement. It allowed Nivitaly to move excess stock easily, while contributing to a greater cause.
The Impact: Measurable Environmental and Social Gains
The results of this initiative were clear and measurable:
950.6 KG of food was saved from landfills
Around 2 metric tons of CO2e emissions were prevented
Vulnerable populations received high-quality food
Nivitaly reduced its waste disposal costs
These numbers show that sustainability is not just good for the planet. It also makes smart business sense.
Client Testimonial: Leadership with Purpose
Silvia Vicari, the founder of Nivitaly, shared her experience:
“I had the pleasure of working with The Surpluss, and I’m truly impressed by their dedication to making a positive impact. We are glad to have had the opportunity to help people in need, while also supporting The Surpluss in their mission to reduce food waste and create a more sustainable future.”
Her words highlight what happens when businesses align on values. Purpose, profit, and impact can go hand in hand.
“Their professionalism and values are truly inspiring. Highly recommended.” — Silvia Vicari, Founder of Nivitaly
