A Milestone Moment for Circular Innovation
We are incredibly proud to announce that The Surpluss has won First Place in the Circular Economy category at the 2025 BRICS Solutions Awards in Rio de Janeiro. Selected from over 500 global innovations, this award is a powerful validation of the future we’re building—a world where surplus is no longer seen as waste, but as a strategic and regenerative asset.
We sent a team of three people from The Surpluss to collect the award on the companies’ behalf and join the UAE delegation to Rio de Janeiro: Our Chief Information Officer (CIO) Princess Sweena Villaluz took to the stage to collect the award, while Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Theodoros Charalampidis and Chief Regional Growth Officer (CRGO) Khalisah Stevens cheered from the sidelines. The award ceremony capped a day-long affair at the BRICS Business Forum where heads of state, leaders of industry, and various public and private individuals chaired talks and panels while keeping the atmosphere energetic and exciting.
We’re deeply grateful to our partners, clients, and supporters who believed in this vision from day one. And we’re especially proud to bring this recognition home to the UAE—a growing hub of female-led climate innovation.
